With so much interest and opportunity within the continent, Open Squares stands as a guide for those wanting to be a part of the immense growth happening. With specialty in strategy and marketing consulting, and with particular expertise on the African market, Open Squares needed a look and feel that duly represents the brand, physically and on the digital space.

At DODO, we strongly believe in cultural exchange and pride ourselves on building experiences that provoke dialogue while bringing people together and this is what Open Squares stood for. We unearthed the company’s core personality while adding a human touch to every facet of designing for the brand. These unearthed traits fed directly the brand’s architecture and positioning. The visual development focused on the distinctive African symbols, shapes, patterns and bringing to life the African values which Open Squares deeply believes in.

The brand’s entire look and feel was inspired by the African culture, it was also imperative for us to create an identity that reflects both the African values and identity. To complement this identity, we created a visual representation of the core values in the market space by utilizing carefully chosen typography, colour scheme and iconography.

After conducting an indepth analysis of the market space and target audience, it was time to build a visual identity that fits. The end result was a professional, yet African logo design that speaks to the market. Each colour chosen for the brand was carefully selected from a moodboard of the typical African market place.
